Theresa Petrone (née Yurkevicz) is an active performer and music educator in the Tri-State Area. Ms. Petrone has served as the principle percussionist of the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble, the Philadelphia Wind Symphony, and the Atlantic Brass Band. She has had the pleasure of playing in many musical productions for local theater companies including Our Gang Players, the Bellarine Theater Company, and the Pinelands Thespians. Some of Theresa’s performances include appearing as a guest artist with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Monarch Brass, Rockville Brass Band, and guest soloist with the Rowan University Wind Ensemble and Lab Band. She has performed in many music festivals including the Zeltsman Marimba Festival, the International Trumpet Guild Conference, IAJE International Conference, Mid-Atlantic Brass Band Festival, the North American Brass Band Association, the U.S. Open Brass Band Championships, the WMC Kerkrade, the Scottish Open, and the British Open. In her spare time, Theresa enjoys making music with her fellow musicians at St. Francis of Assisi on Long Beach Island, New Jersey under the direction of Dr. Ray Bohn and Ms. Michele Beck. Theresa can be heard on albums such as Cello Vein’s Bad Cellist, The Atlantic Brass Band’s Metropolis and Spirit of Christmas, and Rowan University Percussion Ensemble’s Desperate Attitudes and Celebration Suite.
In addition to performing, Ms. Petrone has been a dedicated music educator over the past ten years. She has had the pleasure of teaching the front (and indoor) ensembles of the Golden Rams Marching Band of Southern Regional High School and the Marching Rams of Randolph High School.
Theresa received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance with a specialization in percussion from Rowan University under the direction of professor Dean Witten and her Master’s degree from the Boston Conservatory under the direction of professor Nancy Zeltsman.
